“I love this pet store. It is family owned which is why I chose it in the first place. But the great customer service and their extensive knowledge on pets is what keeps me going. I always get crickets there and recently bought a German Shepherd which is happy and healthy. I do wish they took their pups on walks though.”

“This store is great for your fish needs and other pets. It is a local family ran business, do your part and help support. Great prices, takes time to explain everything to you. Will not go from customer to customer until one is finished. For those that are stating about a smell. Come on, it just means that there are no unnatural products being used. This is a true fish store. Looking to buy fish that will not die a week later from being stressed this is the place to go. Me and my sister get everything for our fish here.”

“This is a small pet store, the folks that run it are really friendly and helpful. Went in to look around for pet supplies and ended up walking out with a Husky and the staff was great. They give you plenty of time with the animals and do not pressure you. They included the Vet visit and first grooming with the purchase. The pup was in perfect heath. I have had the dog for three months now with no issues. The vet they recommended is great, I switched my other two animals to her office also. I do understand there higher prices on pet supplies it is to be expected, small store not a national chain. Highly recommend if you are looking for a pet (pure bred). I will return. Thank you for the great Pet.”

“After recently hearing the negative news, I find the need to write a review. I was searching for unique Christmas presents for my two nieces and decided on a pair of tranchulas. Because I work up town, I would stop by all the chain pet stores and always left very frustrated with the lack of customer service and just plain knowledge on the species. Of course I always try to support our locally owned business and so I stopped in at Valley Pets. Not only are they all very helpful and friendly,they also set me up with all the materials needed to keep the tranchulas healthy and happy on my budget! I went in several times in that week mainly to be educated and also to check on the tranchulas since I asked them to hold them for me till christmas. I tell all my friends and clients about Valley Pets even if they have to pass 4 or 5 other pets stores to get there. And as far as shoppers who live in the Fountain Valley region,, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL STORES?”

“We got a corn snake from here. WHAT a great pet. We've had the snake for several months now. My daughter loves it, it's everything we asked them for. Friendly, easy for her to handle. They took the time to make sure she was comfortable with the snake. Plus offered to help if anything went wrong, even AFTER the warranty period expired. Great customer service, great animals. What more do you want. Thanks loads for making my daughters experience a good one.”

“People that are putting this shop down for the smell? Come on. It is a pet store not a restaurant. Go to Petsmart and pay more money to a chain instead of supporting local businesses. I will never go any where else. The employees are awesome and helpful. Who else will know what animals you have and get to know you on a friendly basis??”

“I just recently bought a boxer puppy from Valley Pets and was told that the only vaccine to give my dog was the parvo vaccine. I was told that the rabies vaccine was NOT TO BE GIVEN unless I was to breed my dog. As far as I know, rabies is required BY LAW.. I would watch out when buying a pet from this place. I would never reccomend them to anyone. It could be a great place if they cleaned it up (A LOT...), had healthy pets, didn't give false information and didn't TRY to be a Veterinarian.”

“me and my friends have ben getting hamsters from this place for years.i had a black teddy bare hamster named chester for 8 years,3 years over the avarage life span.it may smell bad,but its worth the stink. so plug your noses wimps!”

“I have gotten small pets from Valley Pets for many years. Like any other pet store I would recommend getting your dogs or cats from the humane society, however, if you're looking for a small companion animal they are the best place. I often times go there to purchase their fancy betta fish. They keep very good care of the animals there, the cages are always clean and I have witnessed them cleaning the small betta cups before. The customer service is excellent, and they are very open to negotiating prices. They take excellent care of their reptiles and will let you hold any number of animals if you ask. I have had the pleasure of holding everything from puppies and snakes, to the scorpions. Overall, this store is wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone looking for fish or other small companions.”

“I have bought animals and reptiles from Valley Pet and they are fine and well taken care of. For those people that like Pet chains should stay with them. This is a pet shop you can find things the chains dont carry. If they could afford a 25000 square foot store the smell would not be as bad but I do not go there to judge the store by its smell.”

Shop needs to be cleaned

“This is by far the worst pet shop I have been to. The smell was awful, the floors looked like they have not been cleaned in over a year. There were bird cages on the shelves that were empty that had bird droppings all over them. There were empty used fish tanks blocking some aisles which I thought would be a fire hazard. The store was completely un-organized. Every thing was dirty covered in dust and there were cob webs all over the shelves, products, and security cameras. I felt really bad for the animals there. I will never go back and never recommend this place.”

“of course the store is going to smell bad, they can't afford all the ventilation stuff which the larger pet stores have. try going to petsmart and sticking your nose right up to the birds/fish/small animals/reptiles and you'll see that they stink as well! petsmart is just more ventilated than valley pets.”

“the smell might be bad, but it's a pet store- what do you expect?? with all the stuff in the small store, it must be hard to keep as clean as a larger store like petsmart. they could probably do a better job keeping the place more clean, organized, and more open and friendly, BUT what's more important is that the people are very nice, the customer service is awesome, and they are even willing to negotiate prices - you can't say that about petsmart! i don't recommend buying a cat or dog from them as they aren't all that healthy (as to be expected of pet store cats and dogs...), but all the rest of the types of animals are fine.”
