  “I am very upset because had Dr. G. done his job correctly, Oscar would have a better chance of getting the use of his hind legs back.
  
  I have a miniature dachshund. They are known for back problems. On Friday night, Oscar (my doxie) wasn't acting like himself. By Saturday he wasn't able to walk! I immediately took him to the vet. Unfortunately, Amherst Animal Hospital was the only place open. I had heard bad things about them before but they were the only immediate choice (besides a costly ER).
  
  Dr. Gigliotti saw Oscar and explained to me his back problem. He gave him a pain killer injection & sent me home with pain killers. He continued to tell me to come back Tues. or Weds. to get X-Rays.
  
  I felt like my dog needed x-rays sooner than that to get to the extent & be certain of his injuries, not just a 3 minute physical examination. So, I got him an appt. at a trusted vet recommended by family.
  
  Today is Monday. I just left Oscar at this new vet who immediately took x-rays and told me that there is A SMALL (24-36 hr.) WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY FOR TREATMENT WITHOUT SURGERY. I will hear in 3 hours the extent of his injuries & the outlook for treatment, despite the missed window. He already has been given better pain killers and an IV, all for a slightly higher cost than Saturday.
  
  I have a feeling that Dr. G. DID NOT WANT TO TELL ME ABOUT THIS LOWER COST TREATMENT OPPORTUNITY SO HE WOULD ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO PERFORM A COSTLY $2700 SURGERY that my dog may or may not recover from. According to the new vet, Dr. Uhl, hopefully Oscar will respond to this treatment and regain the ability to walk.”
