Cleanliness
Reviewer: Robert
I took my 2 dogs here last month and did not read these comments before. I wish I had. My dogs were clean and their ears were clean too. But the store is farmy and they charge city prices. I also saw the dishsoap comment and I think if a dog gets a dishsoap bath the cost should be dishsoap cost, not higher. I probably will not go back. The place is small and kind of dirty and smells like dirty dog.

Just ok

It was my first time at Allies and I did not read the comments here before I went. I wish that I had tho. It is a farmy kind of place but it charges like it is in the city. The lady was nice to my dog but for a bath and shave I paid too much. I read about the dish soap and if if a place is going to use dishsoap then they should charge dishsoap prices. Not a bargain but my dog was clean when he came home, even his ears. I probably will not go back again because of the cost and then the groomer expected a tip too which was insulting after I paid to much for the bath.

Tipping the scales
Reviewer: Matthew
I just had my dog groomed here. I checked this site and I see two posts from the same dog owner, on the same day which makes me wonder what their agenda is on this business.
This tiny and dirty salon is not worth spending your time or money at. It has no parking, you have to walk your dog through dirt to get to and from the front door. I can only imagine what it's like in the rain.
As for the soaps used, dish detergent is okay for degreasing only for heavily soiled coats, not for each and every dog with all coats. This salon charges 'salon' and upscale prices. For these prices, the pets should be washed with premium natural upscale shampoos, or if the owner(s) wants to use Dawn, charge for Dawn. You can't have it both ways.
The practices of this tiny little shop in the middle of no-where just don't justify all of this comment back and forth. Go for yourself. See what kind of treatment you get for the price you pay. The whole thing about 'breed specific' grooming is a joke in the grooming business.
I've been a groomer for 27 years and this is the first that I've heard of it.

Avoid This Place - It is Horrible
Reviewer: Shirley
I just read the other review and I experienced the same and worse. The 'new management' thing was a joke. The salon used to be owned by a nice woman who retired about a year or so ago, and then it was bought by some guy who was nasty to customers and to the animals. He swore at them and yanked at them. He harrassed me on the phone, with many calls after I told him to leave me off of the list. Then I heard that a girl bought the business from him and I thought I would give it a try again. NO WAY!!!! The prices are not that great, the cuts are no better than I can do myself and the animals are not even cleaned. My dog was so stressed when she came home, she panted all afternoon. I don't blame her after being yelled and cursed at. And, they say they 'hand dry' the dogs? They use loud and individual CAGE FANS!!!! This is completely uprofessional, unhealthy, and wrong. They didn't even clean the grooming table off between dogs. I could go on.....
Not only do they treat your dog like crap, but they treat the owners that way as well.

Satified
Reviewer: Jim
This was my first time at Alleys Friends and Yes, it is not the fancy place you may be used to but Robin the groomer seemed to know a lot about grooming all types of dogs.I'm very happy with the way she looks and smells they even brushed her teeth. I did not spend the entire time(2hours)there so I can not say if anything else went on that I don't know about but by talking with Robin and her passion for all types of dogs I can not believe that my dog was treated badly. I guess I would have to hear someone else's opinion

Actually..
Reviewer: MichGroomer
It is quite common to use dish soap as a degreaser because it is safe on animals.Just fyi. This is what has been used on animals who were affected by oil spills. Dawn and Joy are commonly used, as they do not contain ammonia. However, I wouldn't use ONLY dish soap. And of course, there is no excuse for that type of behavior toward someone's pet.

Great Grooming Salon
Reviewer: Robert
I brought my poodle in there and the groomer was great. She gave me a breed specific groom for such a reasonable price I could not believe it. I have been taking my dog to shops in the area and they don't even know what a breed specific groom is! I recommend this salon to anyone who has a dog.

NEVER AGAIN
Reviewer: Lavern
Under new management!!!! I will never take my dog there again. There were treating the dogs badly, yanking on them and cursing. I saw stuff through the window and when I came in they acted completely different towards the dogs. I saw dishsoap being used on the dogs...are you kidding me....this is against many veterinary beliefs. It dries out their skin. Prices may be reasonable but they treat your dog like dog crap.
