After my one and only experience with Ann Marie's, I have to wonder if perhaps it was an employee who wrote the review from '05.
About six days ago I brought my two Cavalier King Charles' in for grooming and what they did to my dogs is terrible. They actually used a regular clippers along my dogs' backs, leaving about a half inch of fur. Their sides and tummies still have the long, feathery fur that the rest of their bodies should have. They shaved (and yes, I mean shaved) the inside of their ears, in front of and behind their ears, their "bottoms," and cut the fur on their tails.
Both my dogs are scratching their ears furiously (while they cry) from what I imagined to be the itch of a close shave regrowing. Though yesterday I noticed a bump on the head of the dog that's most severely affected, and I'm expecting to discover that they've caught a fungus of some sort. I was out of town all weekend with my dogs, and today was Christmas eve (and so tomorrow is Christmas Day) but as soon as the vet opens I'll take the dogs in to get this diagnosed.
I'd also like to mention that on my way out of Ann Marie's, a groomer approached me to say that while she realizes that breeders think Cavalier's coats should be left long and natural, they really should be cut like this. She also advised that I should bring the dogs back in often to have their ears redone!
