I am a former employee of Wag N Tails Dog Activity Ctr in Shelby Twp. MI. I just want the public to know that in February of 2008, there was a major outbreak of kennel cough at Wag N Tails.

I love Wag 'N' Tails. They take great care of the dogs. The guy who posted below used to work there, but he was creepy. I am glad they fired him. Anyway, it's a great place for grooming. They also have day care, overnight and classes for dogs. I like that they just have the one groomer and she knows the dogs so well and they are done really fast, so my dog doesn't have to spend all day (some places keep the dog for hours).

Although the "kennel cough" post was made by a disgruntled, terminated employee, we would like to take the opportunity to educate the public about kennel cough in boarding and daycare settings.
It is true, that we had 4 confirmed cases of kennel cough over the holiday boarding in 2008. Kennel cough is a contagious upper respiratory infection, very much like a human cold.
It is worth noting that none of our grooming clients were effected.
Any facility can have kennel cough and the emergence of this condition is not a reflection on the cleanliness or care of the business. What matters most is how the issue is handled and how the pets' needs are met.
Always honest and up front with our clients, we immediately notified our clients with a letter and verbally at check in and check out.
Wag 'N' Tails took extreme measures to ensure the health and safety of our guests. All exposed dogs were separated and on two occasions, we had veterinarians from Wilson Veterinary Hospital come to our facility to make sure that we were doing all that we could to keep our guests happy and healthy.
All of this was done at no expense to our clients.
The "dog cold" was contained, and the effected dogs recovered without incident. We had a large number of guests staying with us over that holiday and all of them had a safe, fun, educational and comfortable stay.
Please feel free to call us anytime for more information, or stop in for a tour at your convenience!
